Macy’s Pink Pig 2017

Started in 1953, the iconic Pink Pig has been the ultimate family friendly activity around the holidays. The original Pink Pig was a monorail ride that spanned along the top floor and later to the roof of Rich’s department store in downtown Atlanta. After relocating to a hospital for a short stint, Macy’s purchased the ride, and every year from October through New Year’s, you can ride this strange yet fun pink pig monorail at the Lenox Square Mall.

The ride closes at 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, but it’s a fun-filled way to start the festivities with your little ones. Tickets are $3 for a single ride, $5.50 for two rides, and $7.50 for three rides.

The 14th Annual Downtown Countdown

You’ll either need a fat wallet or an important friend to attend the 14th Annual Downtown Countdown, but if you can swing it, you’re in for the premier New Year’s Eve event in Atlanta. Taking place at the historic 200 Peachtree, this black-tie event offers live entertainment that includes music and aerial performances. This opulent party also allows you to soak up the Whitehall Ballroom, which combines 100-year-old architecture with a contemporary edge. If you want to be seen, this is the only place to consider for the holiday.

Bassnectar

If you’re looking to dance the night away with thousands of your friends, put Bassnectar’s New Year’s Eve bash on your calendar. The project of American DJ and record producer Lorin Ashton, Bassnectar is electronic dance music at its finest, combining driving bass lines with alternative rock and metal influences.

This all-night concert at the Georgia World Congress Center features two opening acts, alcohol, and one awesome time. Tickets are $89.99 for general admission, or you can opt for the $235 VIP tickets, which include private bars, bathrooms, a concert poster, viewing platforms, and early entry to the show.

New Beer’s Eve

When you can’t get enough craft beer or you just want to relive the fun of your college years, head to the 6th Annual New Beer’s Eve at the Front Page News and Tijuana Garage in L5P. This casual dress event features live music from some of the top bands in Atlanta, as well as beer pong and flip cup tournaments in a heated garage. The all-inclusive ticket includes nearly 100 draft, can, and bottled craft beers, as well as an appetizer buffet with chicken wings, sliders, pretzel bites, chips and salsa, and pizza.

Tickets are $70 before or $95 the day of the party.

No matter where you decide to go for New Year’s Eve 2017, you’ll end up with a memory that you’ll talk about until the following year. So put on your tuxedo, fine dress, or something more comfortable and head out on the town.
