This system combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors and has 240 horsepower. The 295-horsepower gas version offers an EPA-estimated 22 combined MPG while the hybrid is a 17% improvement over the previous generation, offering an EPA-estimated 34 combined MPG making it the most fuel-efficient Highlander Hybrid ever. As far as performance, the available all-wheel-drive system was updated for better control, and the Multi-Terrain Select system was added with settings for Mud & Sand and Rock & Dirt.
